Wendy-Ann Smith
Wendy-Ann Smith is a registered psychologist (Australia and France) and a Chartered Coaching Psychologist. A pioneering figure in the integration of positive psychology, coaching, and ethicality, she works at the intersection of professional identity, coach development, and ethical practice.
She is the founder and director of several international initiatives that shape the ethical landscape of coaching, mentoring, and leadership:
- Coaching Ethics Forum (CEF): A global platform advancing ethical awareness and reflective practice across professional contexts. In 2022, Wendy-Ann launched and continues to chair the first international conference focused solely on ethics in coaching, mentoring, and leadership—now an established annual event.
- Journal of Coaching Ethics (JoCE): Founder and executive editor of the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to ethical scholarship in coaching.
- Ethical Edge Insights (EEi): Founder and executive editor of a digital magazine that bridges ethical theory and practice for coaches, mentors, and leaders.
- Champions of Courage Awards: Founder and director of an initiative celebrating ethical courage in professional practice.
Wendy-Ann also convenes and chairs the global roundtable series Safeguarding the Field of Coaching, which brings together senior leaders from coaching bodies around the world. Operating under the shared identity of the Gardiens of the Field of Coaching, this initiative has become a key collaborative space for dialogue on standards, ethics, and the evolving responsibilities of the profession.
A respected speaker, coach, and consultant, she empowers professionals to cultivate ethicality and lead meaningful change. Through her global initiatives, Wendy-Ann continues to shape the future of coaching, leadership, and ethical practice. Her work spans coaching, supervision, education, and organisational consulting—with clients ranging from intergovernmental organisations to independent practitioners.
As a researcher, her published work explores coaching identity, wellbeing, ethicality, coach development, intentional learning, and the cultivation of ethical maturity through reflective practice. She is the developer of the Courageous Becoming and Praxis Model frameworks for ethical development.
